Core Capabilities

The heartbeat of the T8 system is a ‘black-box’ unit which is professionally installed within your boat to avoid detection or tampering. Once installed, the unit communicates via proven telecommunications and mapping technologies to a Secure Operating Centre (SOC). If unlawful movement is detected by the system, the SOC will coordinate an appropriate response and will talk to you and the local Police so that tracking can begin immediately. The Police will liaise with the most appropriate bodies to organise the best response – including the Harbour Masters, Coast Guard, and other local authorities. Once installed, the unit sends regular signals to the SOC and will passively monitor the status of your boat. You never need to worry again about the system as it is self-managing and has no impact upon your other on-board systems.

Additional Security

Each system comes with a set of small Security Tags which communicate with the installed unit to create a secure environment. Each designated person carries a Tag so the boat can be operated without setting off unwanted alarms. If the boat is moved without the presence of a Tag, an alarm is sent to the SOC and an appropriate response is agreed.

Controlled Movement

Upon installation, you define a base position or mooring and the maximum distance that your vessel can travel before an alarm is raised. This is called a geo-fence and it allows you to define areas to suit your lifestyle. Whether you moor in a marina or on a river-bank, you can define a small geo-fenced area so an alarm is raised if the boat is moved unlawfully beyond these boundaries.

The system is designed to meet your individual needs so you can set it up exactly as you choose. For practical reasons, you may wish to allow your boat to be moved within the confines of the marina (for cleaning, maintenance etc.). To avoid false alarms, you simply define a larger geo-fenced area to include the rest of the marina.

Proven Quality

All vehicle security and safety systems in the UK are assessed by the Thatcham organisation. This is the specialist body funded by the UK Insurance industry to ensure the highest security standards are met. Thatcham assigns a category level to each system with Category 5 offering the most secure and advanced option. T8 have been granted Category 5 Certification so you can be assured that you are protected by one of the very best systems in the marketplace.

Response by the Police and other Authorities

If the boat moves beyond its permitted area (the geo-fence), an automatic alarm will be sent to the SOC. The SOC service is configured to your specific needs to alert you and a number of relevant authorities, including harbour masters, coastguards, and the police. The SOC continually tracks the vessel and communicates its exact position to the authorities to affect a swift recovery.
